Studio Bond was appointed to reimagine the identity of a contemporary art gallery, moving it away from the traditional ‘white box’ model and towards a more welcoming, home-like environment. The brief called for a space where visitors could connect with the artwork in a setting that reflected the character and aspirations of their own homes.

Art gallery interior with neutral sofa, large textured wall art, rustic pots, floral paintings, and warm ambient lighting

A warm, earthy palette, sympathetic to the local heritage, was used throughout to define inviting zones within a flexible, multi-purpose space designed to support both gallery and retail functions.

The design needed to support a growing retail proposition, so flexibility was key. The layout was carefully planned to accommodate evolving business needs, allowing the gallery to expand into retail while preserving a calm, cohesive environment. Colours were curated in close collaboration with The Art Buyer to complement the selected artworks, with a bold taupe used on the façade setting the tone for the rest of the space. This palette continues throughout the building, bringing warmth and flow to each room. The consultation area was designed as a relaxed, informal setting, offering visitors a comfortable space to engage with the art in a more personal way.
